Mozilla hat am 30.6. seinen beliebten Open-Source-Webbrowser Firefox in Version 3.5 gegen Safari 4.0 ins Rennen geschickt. Neben beschleunigter Seitendarstellung und der JavaScript Rendering Engine TraceMonkey kommt eine neue Medienarchitektur zum Einsatz, die bestimmte Audio- und Videodateien ohne Plug-in abspielen können soll (Ogg Theora). Außerdem ist standortbezogenes Surfen möglich, wenn man Mozilla den aktuellen Standort mit Bordmitteln in Erfahrung bringen lässt. Darüber hinaus wurde an den Funktionen zur Wahrung der Privatsphäre (Private Modus) gefeilt.
